Pouring the Footers

Part I

Footers support the outside load bearing walls. They were poured on July 2nd and now we are hoping for some rain to help the cement cure once it has begun to set.

Such an interesting process!

There is always something to do while waiting for the concrete mixers and concrete pump trucks to arrive. Here Bob Manseill (left) and Bill Gray discuss some last minute garage wall modifications for Lesley to consider.

Finally they arrive...and the pouring starts!

The hose you see carries the concrete from the mixer to the pump trunk, and then out into the field of footers.

As the concrete is poured into the foundation footers, the concrete is tapped to push it into place with a smooth surface.

Rebar is embedded into the concrete-filled footers for added strength.

That hose is not easy to move around!

This is the excellent crew that did the pouring today.

Lesley, ever alert for a good shot...!
