A Closer Look at Poured Concrete Walls


Lesley's builder prefers poured concrete walls, particularly when the height of the walls exceeds 10 feet. Here he shows Lesley what the ICF forms look like.


The forms that are used are made of styrofoam with metal braces

The concrete is poured down through these forms, with no real height restrictions to the resulting walls, Bill says.

The formed walls include plumbing access and window openings, garage door openings, etc.


The styrofoam is eventually covered with drywall, sometimes even siding...depending upon the end-use of the space. In Lesley's case, it will probably be drywall since the poured walls will enclose the ground-level garage space.
