Acrobatic brushes and painters abound at the property these days.
We find them high up in the gables both inside and out, using amazing renditions of brushes that only a work-in-progress such as ours can produce.
The inside of the house is being painted with two coats of clear polyurathane. On the outside they are using SIKKENS 'Natural Oak' for the first coat, and SIKKENS "Natural Light" as the second coat. This is in an effort to reduce the orange look of so many stained log homes in the area. We had the painter give us several samples of two coats of SIKKENS stain in different layers. This is not an easy process, trying to select the right hue...it looks different in different light, for sure. However, we had the painter use an actual log from the house for his samples so that we could get as close as possible to the final LOOK. The stain requires 50 degree temperatures to apply, so the exterior painting can be especially slow under in certain weather conditions. When painting the interior of the house they can at least use karosene oil torpedo heaters when necessary. And during the fall months it is definitely necessary!
