The First Shipment of Barna Logs Arrive!
Part II - Off-Loading at the Property
| Once the logs arrive at the property on Avens Lane, the second stage of off-loading is even trickier. The pallets have to be placed for easy access and off-road. Eventually, many of the pallets will have to be set down in the surrounding woods, as you will see.
Lesley's eight acre tract, however, will easily accommodate this and more!
You can see how tight the maneuvering is through that old stone gate!
The first pallets head through the gate for the 4/10th of a mile trek up Avens Lane which is a private, graveled lane.
The CAT starts the off-loading process for the second time...
Builder Bill Gray supervises the placement of each pallet at the Collins property site. Note the skids that the pallets are placed on.
This wide load requires a little extra maneuvering!
Bill takes down a few volunteers in order to make room for the wider loads that have to be set down in the woods.
Lesley double-checks the pallet contents as they are off-loaded.
Each log, especially cut for Lesley's custom log package, has an identifying number and log type associated with it. These numbers correspond to a builder's set of architectural plans, which show where each log goes on which wall, and on which floor level.
The deliveries are fully documented by Barna and cross-checked by the homeowner so that the builder knows exactly what he has and where it goes. (It all still looks like Greek to us!)
Bill and Lesley review the associated paperwork and discuss the draw for the next phase of the log project.
Chestnut Tops neighbors, Bill and Jane Strong, stop to take in all the excitement. They built their own log home on Avens Lane 4 years ago so they can certainly appreciate Lesley's unbridled enthusiasm!
Bill and Lesley and Barna rep, David Terry, share a laugh after the first and second shipments were successfully off-loaded.
