The First Shipment of Barna Logs Arrive!

Part I - Off-Loading at the Gate

The first shipment of Barna logs finally arrives, expertly delivered by Choice and Todd Ryon of Choice Transport in Oneida, TN. Oneida is where the Barna factory is located.

In order to accomodate the mountainous terrain and winding roads to the Collins property, the logs arrive in multiple shipments on a deisel truck with a 12-ft flatbed hauling a 36-ft goose-neck trailer which makes it more navigable on hairpin turns.

The logs first have to be off-loaded at the entrance to Chestnut Tops for transportation on smaller vehicles to the property which is 4/10ths of a mile from the gate on Flats Rd. Not an easy process!

As you will see in Part II, the logs then have to be off-loaded a second time at the property. The off-loading is handled by builder Bill Gray and his crew who are constructing the log home for Lesley.

Only so many logs can be transported at a time, due to weight constraints. In this case there will be be a total of six shipments to deliver the entire log package for Lesley's log home.

Todd Ryon expertly supervises the off-loading process.

Each pallet is carefully placed on skids to keep the pallets separated.

David Terry from the Oneida factory (and Lesley's Barna rep) inspects each pallet of logs as they are off-loaded by Choice Transport.

Choice's son, Todd Ryon, of Choice Transport. Todd, by the way, worked at the Barna Factory in Oneida, TN for three years...so he knows this business well.
