| Lesley's Barna Log Home is being built on an 8-acre tract in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, between Towsend and Maryville, Tennessee.
The property is part of Chestnut Tops Community at what is known as the Top of the World, which is forty minutes from McGhee Tyson Airport near Knoxville.
Chestnut Tops Community is a 170 acre community currently consisting of about 10 familes, each on tracts no smaller than 5 acres, some much larger. The altitude of Chestnut Tops Community is 2500 ft. above sea level, making the average year-round temperature 15-20° cooler than the surrounding area.
Lesley's property faces East/Southeast with Clingman's Dome, Mount Le Conte, Thunderhead Mountain, and Gregory's Bald all visible in the distance.
You can access the property via Montvale Rd (Rt 336) from Maryville, or via the scenic Foothills Parkway from Rt 321 near Townsend. The Foothills Parkway is a national parkway which runs along the crest of Chilhowee Mountain, in the Great Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee. It is operated by the National Park Service. From various overlooks along the parkway, one can see the high peaks of the Smokies to the south and, to the north, most of Blount County and parts of Knoxville. The Cumberland Plateau spans the horizon to the northwest.
