| We call it a 'hunt' because there are hundreds of options to choose from, and multiple brands as well as beautiful custom designs to consider.
Lesley talks here with Joe and Kathy Burns of Cedar Creek Wood Works, Inc in Townsend, TN. They are Kraftmaid and TimberLake dealers, but they also offer a wide range of custom options. This is helpful when considering closet spaces and shelving, not to mention those non-standard spaces that can pop up in kitchens and pantries.
Everything is done with CAD software these days so you can sit in front of a computer monitor and see exactly how your design spaces will work in your own kitchen. You can even view your designs from the top down, from the front, from one side or another...and corrections or changes can be made in real time...COOL!
Closets are particularly difficult spaces to conceptualize in that they are fairly compact spaces that require a design that will maximize the available space without sacrificing utility.
Cabinetry is also difficult in that options range widely from different woods to different stains or paints, to varying levels of design from simple to (cough) gawdy.
Finally, kitchen cabinetry for a log home with open spaces and vaulted ceilings pose somewhat unique problems, in that you don't want to have the cabinetry to disappear OR to appear too large for the space it occupies that is typically central to everything.
Be sure to make many additional copies of your house plans before this finishing process starts!
