Countdown: January 21st

The big story today is that we now have WATER! CLAP CLAP CLAP! Enjoy this Jan 21st tour with Dr. Ellen.

Travis installs the faucet above the stovetop (you know, when you need to fill a pot with water while cooking - ain't that the height of something??)

Lesley paints while waiting for the plumber to finish. He finished around 10pm.

This is a view of the railings on the loft. There was a measurement glitch so they will be modified and finished tomorrow, in the nick of time for the certificate of occupancy. Lesley specificially said NOT to measure 3.5 inches from center post to center post (which they did), but to leave 3.5 inches between posts. But that's a pretty easy fix. The railings are beautiful!

Behind the scenes the finishing carpenters are turning empty spaces into closets and this log structure into a real home. They are addressing last minute details of all kinds now, and will soon turn their attention to the screened porch.

We also measured for blinds on bedroom and bathroom windows today, and ordered them. That's a milestone!

A professional cleaning crew arrived today to start work while the scaffolding is still in place. They concentrated on the rafters and otherwise inaccessible spots. Note the sawdust on that window ledge! They were very pleased to see that Lesley and Dr. Ellen had done so much site clean-up work, which makes their job easier.

This is one of six hand-painted bar stools that will grace the livingroom side of the 12 ft kitchen island. Dr. Ellen brought one in today to do some computer work while waiting for the plumber to finish.

"You've got mail!"

We can't wait for this project to be done! Dining on fast food is not our idea of good eats...but you do what you have to do, right? Lesley munches as we wind our way back up the mountain after a quick run to LOWE'S.

A full moon, welcoming lights, and crisp mountain air...hard to beat!
