| Gutters, gutters, who's got the gutters?
Gutter time comes after the roof is finished, everyone knows that. This particular subcontractor came out and gave us a bid, after which he meticulously measured for every inch of gutter that was needed to do the job. We also picked out the color of gutter we wanted after some argument (with the man). He wanted black so that the gutters would stand out, we wanted gutters that would blend into the woodwork. What would be YOUR choice?? Anyway, then he left. Then he came back with some guys and started the installation process. And then he left again. And then he came back to do two or three more little things and left again, saying that he had run out of material (again). Huh? We still don't have all the gutters in place and it has been weeks now. Maybe soon...maybe not...one wonders... He's like our painters who never seem to have enough paint, ever. I mean EVER (Dr. Ellen's emphasis). |
![]() We decided on this nice chocolate-y brown color. This guy wanted black but maybe he already had the black in stock, who knows. We won. |
![]() The installation of gutters on a log home requires special considerations. Lesley tells him NOT to put it there, but to put it [HERE] where it will be less visible from the front walkway and more efficient in other ways. She knows what she is talking about, having done just this for several properties in Florida not that long ago. Beware! Subcontractors often favor the path of least resistence (meaning, the least work). And you wonder why you have to be there every day?? |
![]() This is what we had in mind, yes... |
...on down through the deck to the ground, which at this point is 14 feet or so below. So far so good. |
![]() Our choice of leaf guard see how things blend with the CertainTEED roof? COOL! Maybe, just maybe, this job will be finished soon! |
