Setting the Footers


Footers are wide concrete pads that spread the weight of, and give a level base for, the foundation walls of a house. The footers are laid out and dug one day and strengthened the next with steel rebar which gives support to the cement to make it stronger.

They don't look like much yet, do they?!




No, it doesn't look like much but eventually those red lines in the dirt will guide the digging for the footers for Lesley's log home. Amazing, huh? These guys are wizards in disguise!


This will support the West wall of the garage, the wall that you see from the road.


Footers, here we come!






This specialty CAT crunches underlying layers of sandstone up to a certain depth below the footers.


(It makes LOTS of noise, too!)
