Sealing the 2,000 sq ft Garage Floor
July 23, 2007
| Benny Gray's energetic team poured the garage floor and then sealed it all in a day's work. It was a long day - from 7am to 7pm - but the results were spectacular!
This fantastic team will be back another day to pour the apron in front of the three garage doors and also the concrete walkway up to the front door.
Clap Clap Clap Clap...!
Benny uses an automatic trowel to expertly finish the new concrete surface.
Benny takes a break to order the sealing compound...note the high tech 'shoes' for standing on the still uncured concrete floor.
Lesley takes a much needed break, too...after all, watching all this hard work is HARD WORK!

...then Benny takes few minutes to give Dr. Ellen a quick lesson in how the automatic trowel works...wheh!...push down on the handle and it turns to the right, lift up and it turns to the left...mind you, Benny deliberately let Dr. Ellen try it on a stretch of floor that was NOT close to the precipitous edge of a wall! This thing requires experience...and muscles...!

This is the industrial sealant that Benny used on the floor. A thick coat is applied with paint rollers, as you can see below.

Out come the paint rollers and off come the shoes...

Just look at that, will you! The sealant keeps stains and clay or dirt from embedding into the concrete surface during the remainder of the construction process.

Benny finishes up with a TWINKIE and a story about how his son can eat a dozen of them if given half a chance. (Do you know how many calories are in one of those?!?)

Dr. Ellen wanders off in search of that perfect final image for the end of a perfect day. KLUNK!
