August 24th Update

This is how things look as of August 24th. You can see that the second floor (which is the primary living floor) is starting to take shape! Remember, though, that there will still be another floor above that.

Lesley stands in the master bedroom suite.

Each bedroom in the master bedroom suite has a large bay window - see left (above) and far right (below).

The large beams in front are ceiling beams that will eventually stretch across the open living space on this floor.

These expansive ceiling beams in the house are made of as many as ten compressed layers of wood which are stitched together and then glued for the above effect. Other beams will be 8" rounded pine logs as you will see later.

Once a photographer always a photographer, eh?

Here you are looking out from the master bedroom suite through the living room and to the dining room on the upper left corner of the picture.

Lesley is standing on the unfinished screened-in porch, looking through a tall double-hung window into the livingroom and to the dining room on the far side.

The window to the far left is one of two tall staircase windows that will embrace a staircase from the ground floor through to the third floor. A 3-floor residential-size elevator shaft will be installed to the right of that window.

Depending upon where the wall is, a few of the interior walls will have 8" rounded logs meeting like this.

Others will have the square-D side of the log meeting the rounded side of the log...although the majority of interior walls will have only the square-D side showing. The rounded logs will predominantly grace the exterior of the house.

These 8-inch wide vertical support logs will be used on the two living floors above the garage.
